Dr.Polimera is an oncologist with vast experience in patient care and medical education at Penn State. Her primary research focus is on preventing breast cancer, especially in young women, and developing biomarkers for predicting and diagnosing cancer. She enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. Dr. Polimera completed her medical education at Andhra Medical College in India. She then moved to the University Hospital of North Durham in the UK for advanced foundational studies before taking the Royal College of Physicians Exams. Her interests include patient care, medical education, research, and community outreach. Dr. Polimera has worked on various quality improvement and research projects and has published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals. She routinely served on various regional and national committees of professional societies and was elected the Academic Chairperson for the Society of Hospital Medicine, South Central PA Chapter. Dr. Polimera has received several professional awards, including the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Hershey Hero, Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Clinical Science Research, and the American College of Physicians Young Achiever Award. She has been recognized as one of the “Top 40 physicians under 40” by the Pennsylvania Medical Society for her persistent commitment, leadership, and significant achievements early in her medical career.
