Our Programs

The overarching goal of the BCYW Foundation is to save the lives of young women with breast cancer by promoting awareness about the concerns germane to breast cancer in young women, building resources to support and broaden the survivorship and advocacy network, and funding the most promising advanced research concerning breast cancer in young women.

Awareness

The Incidence of breast cancer in young women is increasing worldwide. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of patients suspected of breast cancer reach healthcare facilities within the window of curable treatment options, whereas most cases present to the facilities in the advanced stages of the disease. The BCYW Foundation’s awareness program ensures increased cognizance about the disease among women and its cumulative impact on the individual, her family, and society. It also spreads the message that breast cancer is not a disease of older women alone and educates women about the role of self-breast care and examination today in saving the life tomorrow.

Research

Over the last few decades, medical science has made substantial progress in the early diagnosis of breast cancer in women, thereby enabling effective treatment and a high rate of cure of the disease. These gains, however, have not completely reached the BCYW patients because of the distinct clinical and biological features of the disease. Breast cancer in young women has largely remained poorly understood at cellular and proteogenomic levels.

The BCYW Foundation singularly funds the most promising research in the field which
might not only lead to an improved understanding of tumor biology in breast cancer in young women but also contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies and diagnostic tests for detecting precancerous stages of the disease or predicting a risk of breast cancer thus, potentially saving the lives of young patients with breast cancer.

Survivorship

Regular visits to the doctor play a crucial role in saving lives in the future. However, certain women, these screenings can sometimes evoke concerns about the path ahead. In order to overcome such apprehensions and foster a positive journey towards overcoming new challenges, it is vital to seek inspiration and address these concerns by connecting with others who have triumphed over breast cancer, emerging stronger than before. The BCYW Foundation offers valuable resources to facilitate the connection between recently diagnosed individuals and those who have successfully battled the disease. By joining this global network of BCYW survivors, individuals can collaborate with like-minded non-profit organizations that share a common vision.

We are a non-profit organization that exclusively focuses on core issues of breast cancer in young women, ranging from promoting awareness to funding advance promising research.
Our international team consists of pioneers in breast cancer treatment and laboratory research as well as experts in promoting community awareness of breast cancer in young women.
We only support translational, transforming research which directly benefit patients. We collaborate and/or fund other non-profit organizations with shared goals in the areas of awareness, self-breast care, and early detection.
