Project Flamingo, South Africa
The main objective of Project Flamingo is to ensure that all South Africans have access to comprehensive, prompt, and empathetic cancer care while adhering to the principles of equal patient selection. The project emphasizes areas including timely surgery for breast cancer, providing ongoing support to the Groote Schuur Breast Unit, promoting cancer awareness, partnering with relevant initiatives, distributing patient care packages, delivering food parcels to chemotherapy patients, organizing educational and awareness programs, and providing life-changing stoma reversal surgery. The Project Flamingo is developing collaborative educational and research programs with the BCYW Foundation to focus on breast cancer young women in South Africa.

Silbiotech, Inc., is a diagnostic company that offers a breast cancer risk- assessing genomic test, the BBDRisk Dx. This test assesses the risk of breast cancer for women diagnosed with precancerous breast tumors that include atypical ductal hyperplasias (ADH), atypical lobular hyperplasias (ALH), usual ductal hyperplasias (UDH), or papilloma types. Many Studies have shown that one in four-to-five women diagnosed with ADH or ALH and one in ten women among those with UDH or Papilloma types develops breast cancer within one-to-five or more years. The BBDRisk Dx test identifies those who are most likely to develop breast cancer with more than 90% accuracy. Medicare and most commercial insurance agencies cover this test in the US.
TEAM SHAN, CANADA
Cancer Awareness for Young Women (Team Shan) is a Canadian charity dedicated to reaching young women with their breast cancer risk and breast health information. Our mission is to educate the public, health care professionals and young women about early detection, risk reduction and prevention of breast cancer. Team Shan is named after Shanna (Shan) Larsen who was only 24 when she lost her life to breast cancer. In Shan memory, Team Shan was established in 2006 and registered as a national charity in 2010. Through the development of an innovative health promotion strategy.

JOVEN & FUERTE, MEXICO
is the first specialized program for the care and research of young women with breast cancer in Mexico. Its research projects, focused on young patients’ medical and psychosocial needs, have generated valuable knowledge about this understudied population and have contributed to improving their medical care. Likewise, through educational strategies, the first educational materials in Spanish for young patients have been developed and are freely available in the Joven Fuerte website. Joven Fuerte is currently active in Mexico City and Nuevo Leon. As of 2023, more than 800 patients have been included in the program.
STOP-CANCER, ISREAL
Launched by the Tal Center in 2016, ‘Stop-Cancer’ or ‘Halasartan’ (in Hebrew) is the only initiative in Israel tailored specifically to the needs of young-adult cancer patients and survivors, aged 18-44. With the aim of ensuring no cancer patient is left to cope alone with the battle, ‘Stop-Cancer’ attends to all aspects of the patients’ life, through the activities of a supporting community, both in the digital world, and outside it. PORTUGUESE CANCER LIGUE, PORTUGAL
The Portuguese Cancer Ligue (Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro) established in 1941, is one of the major non-profit public charity organizations in Portugal and the leading non-profit organization against cancer. The Portuguese Cancer League is a national reference entity in support to oncology patients and their families, promotion of health, cancer prevention and in training and research in oncology. The Portuguese Cancer League is responsible for implementing the breast cancer screening program in 95% of mainland Portugal.
PINK RING, JAPAN
The Pink Ring Japan was established in 2010 as a clinical trial of group therapy for juvenile breast cancer patients at St. Luke International Hospital in Tokyo by medical doctors and young breast cancer survivor. The organization champions the cancer awareness among young patients and creating communities of survivors across Japan. The Pink Ring serves the community to bring the peers and patients together who have experienced the same disease and share the worries and anxieties (pregnancy, childbirth, romance, marriage, work, beauty, etc.) in the context of early-onset breast cancer.
NIRAMAI HEALTH ANALYTIX, INDIA
Niramai Health Analytix is a deep tech digital health startup headquartered in Bangalore India and launched in January 2017, with a mission to reduce deaths due to breast cancer. Niramai has pioneered a novel computer-aided test to detect early-stage breast cancer called Thermalytix – which is radiation- free, automated, non-contact and works accurately on women of all age groups, irrespective of breast density.
THE PALPA, CHILE
The Palpa is a non-medical device, based in Chile, that teaches young women about self-examination and how to detect anomalies in their breast through soft interactions in their shower routine. More specifically, Palpa is a breast-shaped device that contains a lump with all the usual malicious symptoms. The device is filled with liquid soap and with it, women can practice self-examination outside their bodies and distinguish a lump. When women practice with it, soap is released for a better sliding and skin sense over their breast while examination. Being the only solution that combined a domestic product, and the feeling of a tumor granted The Palpa Company an invention patent.

PYNK – Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program, supported entirely by donations, is a multidisciplinary program running since 2008 at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, created to address the unique clinical and psychosocial needs of women diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40 or younger. PYNK supports these complex patients and their families right from the time of diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. PYNK also actively engages in research focusing on this demographic and educating healthcare trainees and providers on best practices for managing young breast cancer patients. PYNK has recently opened at two additional sites, Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and the Juravinski Cancer Centre
in Hamilton, Canada.
